Tom. I`ve spent mega years in the countryside and from experience it`s the minority that have tarred you all with the same brush but that`s neither here or there as far as this forum is concerned. Can i ask what made you post this? PM if you need to.

I don't know how to tell you this

Post  moonstone on Tue Dec 04, 2012 2:37 pm

Bless you Tom Smile I had already worked that out Smile all anyone cares about is that you love your horses and treat them well Smile
I have a travellor site near me and all the horses look well cared for and happy Smile the fact that you are a travellor is NO REASON for you to be treated differently Smile
I hope your case goes well for you and that you get your horses back soonX

Tom I have PMd you giving you my support - from the other comments I think we all agree that we are only interested in supporting you regardless. Most people in this situation appear to be good people who have come up against someone who has taken a dislike to them for some reason and seem to be using the RSPCA to cause them all sorts of problems.

Hope to hear you in better spirits soon, please keep in touch with us all one way or another.

I PM'd Tom also, and what you say is right as far as I can see, wherever there is an RSPCA case there is someone in the background enjoying the fact that they have caused trouble for someone. The RSPCA calls them "concerned members of the public" but usually it is someone who has a grudge. In my case it was people wanting to get their hands on my stable yard. In Moonstone's case it was a neighbour who had fallen out with her. Catdog never found out how Sammy ended up with the RSPCA as no note was left either by the RSPCA or by the Police. He left a post on the old site giving the impression he was not getting much help which surprised me as I thought he had his vet willing to back him up...in my opinion that would be a great help. Think he also was a bit apprehensive about saying too much while his case is on-going.

I feel so sad that Tom would feel that he would not get support because he is a travellor Sad this forum (and the injustices forum) were set up for those of us who have unjustly treated by rspca No we are joined together in the common cause of trying to get justice Smile it does not matter who or what a person is Surprised we all want to put an end to their illegal activities Smile
Tom you have been the "victim" of this evil mob of animal thugs and you are as entitled to be here as any of us are Smile
I hope that you are feeling more positive now Smile

Google RSPCA Policies on Animal Welfare and you will get a link to their PDF document, this outlines how 'good' they are, how they are prepared to do it 'with sound legal argument' (pity they dont listen to expert witnesses instead as the animals cant read the law books! If you read the bit on horses - they are against travellers, opposed to breeders, racing, etc etc etc, I believe any lawyer would be able to use this printed text possibly to prove malicious intent with regard to prosecuting within the travelling community - it could even border on being a racist comment (you should explore proper legal advice on this point if you think it relevant) I am not qualified but seem to be learning fast......(pity I didnt know this a year ago!)

Some people are stupid Tom, my family have known some travellers a long time across the Uk and Scotland and only a few seem to be in the paper for animal cruelty but as we just found out anyone can be tarnished with the cruelty brush when the RSPCA are concerned.

The RSPCA just took seven horses away, they had been in a horrible field with barbed wire and no food for weeks, I would feed them hay and the odd carrot and they were owned by some couple who never visited them. Disgusting people and I bet they get less of a telling off then my aunty did...

What you say is right catdog, anyone can be tared with the cruely brush (I like that expression!) but the point that was being made was that the RSPCA go for the easy targets and will not take on people who will look after themselves and each other. It was not suggested that travellers' horses were neglected...of course there are exceptions, there always are. The point being made was that travellers tend to be a very close community and will support each other in whatever way they can...and good for them. RSPCA prefer to pick an old lady alone feeding several cats out of her pension. RSPCA will not take on people with money either, those who can afford to stand up to them financially. Which is why every year they mutter about the Grand National needing to be changed, but doing nothing about it. Because there is MONEY in racing and those involved will stand up to them. They actually state that travellers would not find it easy to find a vet or a farrier (see Millie's post) which is of course rubbish as the majority of travellers are in a stable surrounding and not travelling the country.
The point being made was that RSPCA are hesitant to take on certain groups of people, those who will stand up for themselves, those who are well off to defend themselves financially. I had two travellers in my yard and they had three lovely ponies which lacked nothing.
I hope Tom is surviving his ordeal and that he got a better solicitor than I did!! I would repeat my advice to check the costs so far though.
Catdog, so glad Sammy came home, please keep in touch and keep us informed how he is. I would be very careful as my guess is that they will be back sniffing and snooping and snouting around Evil or Very Mad tell your aunt to be on her guard. You were very lucky...I never heard of anyone losing a case and getting their animal back. Did you ever find out how the RSPCA got their hands on Sammy anyway?

Never found out how she ended up in the hand of the RSPCA, and I don;t think we will ever find out.
