RSPCA. `Grateful for donation`
Animal charity RSPCA has said it would be "grateful" to receive money from an Ipswich punk band who have vowed to re-record their debut album after the drummer was found guilty of having sex with animals (29 July).
Qualified vet Oliver Lown was struck off after being filmed having sex with a horse and a dog. BBC News reports that Lown was found guilty of five charges by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons disciplinary committee, including engaging in sexual activity with animals and possession of extreme images of animals and people.
Lown was also drummer in Ipswich based punk band The 4130's and recently recorded their second album 'One For The Road' with the group. The band announced that they had departed ways with Lown following his guilty verdict and will now re-record the album using a different drummer.
Explaining their decision, the band posted the following message on Facebook: "We have decided to re-record the new album. Copies of the first album we have and the second album we will soon be getting will still be sold and all the money will be donated to the RSPCA. If any good from the recent ongoings can happen, we truly hope it's this."
A separate statement saw the band write that they "could sit here and jack everything in," adding: "Fuck that, we made a record that we are super proud of. He was one small part of our band there's three more guys here that put their heart and soul into making this album."
A spokesperson for the RSPCA confirmed to NME that they would be happy to accept money from the band, stating: "As a charity that relies entirely on donations from the public we are always extremely grateful to hear people are fundraising to help improve the welfare of animals."
The Crown Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute Lown with bestiality so he will not serve jail time. The 4130s are currently looking for a new full time drummer.

Grateful For The Cash
I had always imagined that bestiality in this country was illegal, but I'm not so sure now. If it is a criminal offence and if there was photographic evidence, which there was, then CPS would have prosecuted as they would have been confident of a conviction...surely? However, since CPS did not prosecute, then surely RSPCA would have done, unless they do not consider this to be animal cruelty? If your cat has fleas they drag you to court, but not if you're having sex with your dog?
I read about this guy some time ago...I think he qualified in Budapest. I also think he is only banned from practising here in this country so he can go to...wherever...continue sheep-shagging to his heart's content and still practise as a vet. I stand to be corrected on this last point.
Just trust the Greedy Ones to make money out of this. if you threw them down a sewer they'd come up smelling of roses!!!
