If you have a cat (or horse) for 16 years or more, you are hardly likely to start abusing or neglecting it. OK, maybe if an owner becomes sick and incapable of caring for the animal, which was clearly not the case here. I hope the neighbours are proud of themselves, but my guess is that they won't lose a minute's sleep. Evil or Very Mad
And RSPCA never goes after people with OBESE animals which we all know are far more likely to suffer ill-health...like fat people.  This is a terrible story. There is an 'epidemic' of obese people and pets in this country, but RSPCA thinks that obesity=well-fed. It does not. It more than likely means diabetes/heart disease and problems with the joints which are incapable of carrying excess weight. Sad
