It is totally shocking...and reminds me of this which I read about not long ago. Whatever they get...hundreds of thousands, they have to grasp and snatch for more.
They have a ''home for life'' scheme whereby you can hand over all your worldly goods in the hope that your dog/cat companion of many years will have a safe future.  As often as not the animal is elderly, a good reason to pts...or becomes stressed in a kennel/cage after a life of comfort and is deemed 'unhomeable'' and pts. So they get the owner's money and the pet is dispatched. Evil or Very Mad It is simply a scam for getting pet owners' money.

Their overpaid lawyers help them word the ads so they can get away with their devious little scheme to con people into thinking their much loved pets will be looked after their death. I would say I don't know how they sleep at night but, as we've seen ourselves, they have no scruples

As a postscript to this thread I wonder if anyone can give me some advice? my father-in-law (FIL) who I never met due to my husbands family Evil or Very Mad died about five years ago Crying or Very sad His death was only discovered as his cousin took the trouble to track down my sister-in-law(SIL) so he had been dead for two years when we found out about it Crying or Very sad he left £500.000 to rspca Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil
The family who hadn't bothered with this poor man who was suffering from cancer are now trying to get this will revoked Shocked they keep nagging my husband to consult a solicitor although SIL has already tried this and was told she has no chance Very Happy
I do not get on with MIL/SIL and felt pity for my FIL but due to my husband and his family putting pressure on me and also withholding his address I never got to meet him Crying or Very sad
I have said that they have no chance of getting his money now but they are still trying :evil:does anyone think it is worth seeing if they can get the will revoked or not Smile

Hello moonstone: Smile
Lord, how sickening that your FIL left a shedload of cash to that shower. A fair slice of that should have gone to your husband and you...what a bugger. Five years is a long time of course and my guess is that unfortunately they will get nowhere. I don't know if a no-win no-fee lawyer would take this on and I imagine it is doubtful as everyone now knows that RSPCA would spend megabucks on a top lawyer specializing in probate etc. (money no object as their money is all donated).  I think when they took me to court they were on £250 an hour so by now that has got to be £350 I'm guessing. Either way it would have to be proven as far as I can gather that a) the Animal Gestapo put undue pressure on him while he was really sick, which is very possible or b) he was not of sound mind when he made the will in their favour (or both). Why on earth would he do such a thing? Was he a great animal lover and believed that they are a caring charity that puts animals first...five years ago people did believe that of course and possibly FIL had no internet where he could read for himself exactly what they are like. Certainly it is in the past few years that their antics have become public knowledge.
Taking RSPCA to court would be an enormously costly affair if chances of getting something back are very low. But for £500k it's worth looking into. Wink

Thanks for your reply trilby Very Happy personally I have no interest in  trying to get my father-in-laws money Shocked as said i didn't know him only what I have been told which naturally was biased in favour of my husbands family :evil:I visited my mother-in-law last Friday as she is ill and my sister-in-law turned up while we were there Embarassed when I left the room SIL started nagging my husband again about trying to get the will revoked Evil or Very Mad She has already been to a no win/no fee solicitor who told her that she had no chance of getting this money Laughing yes I hate the fact that he left it to the SCUMBAGS but it was his choice Smile he was an animal lover and I am sure that I would have got on really well with him if we had met Crying or Very sad
I feel so angry that I have been denied the chance of getting to know him as he led a lonely life after my MIL walked out on him taking the two children with her Evil or Very Mad my husband was 16 at the time and had no further contact s his mother stopped him Shocked he in turned refused to tell me where he lived so I couldn't track him down myself Crying or Very sad
My SIL is furious that she didn't manage to get her hands in his cash as she is a money grabber Evil or Very Mad she is the one who keeps on nagging about trying to get the will revoked Rolling Eyes I have explained that they will use top lawyers and FIL was of sound mind and had left a valid will also against them is the fact that they had no contact with their dad for over forty years Crying or Very sad shame he left it to that evil mob and if I had met him I would have told him just what they where like Rolling Eyes
