RSPCA inspector turned whistleblower is found hanged.

Post  Admin on Wed May 15, 2013 9:33 pm

A FORMER inspector with the RSPCA has been found hanged just months after accusing the charity of ruining her life.
Dawn Aubrey-Ward, 43, became caught up in a public spat with the animals charity after accusing bosses of putting down too many animals.

The RSPCA had responded by dismissing her claims that older and aggressive pets are killed too readily, branding her a “disgruntled former employee”.

The day before she was found dead at her home in Martock, Somerset, the divorcee mother-of-four posted a 'give up' note on her Facebook page.

She wrote: “That’s it, I give up. I am unemployed, broke, struggling, and allegedly ’damaged’.”

Ms Aubrey-Ward stopped working for the organisation in 2010 and made her allegations soon after.

But a spokesman for the RSPCA — which receives £120million in donations from the public each year — rejected her comments made to the Mail on Sunday.

He said at the time: “Please be aware of the fact that Dawn Aubrey-Ward is a disgruntled former employee of the RSPCA who was subject to a disciplinary investigation for alleged theft of animals.

“She left the organisation with matters still pending.

“There were also police concerns drawn to the RSPCA’s attention of irregularities relating to her possession of firearms and some welfare concerns regarding animals under her care during her working time for us.”

Friends of Ms Aubrey-Ward believe this response made her unemployable — particularly in the field of animal welfare.

And she herself reacted furiously at the time, tweeting: “They really are stooping low! My animals are happy healthy and as for concerns omg! That is evil!”

She later added: “Rspca ruined my and my animals lives!”

Ms Aubrey-Ward had a history of depression and had a particulary difficult time after finding her boyfriend — a former soldier — hanged in 2011.

She tweeted at the time: “Yes, I suffer from severe depression, hardly surprising is it?”

Her friend Jonathan Rich, a barrister, told The Times: “She always tried to look on the bright side, but on some occasions when we spoke she was clearly at her wits’ end.

“The response of the charity to the Mail’s piece about Dawn was disgraceful.

“Dawn’s revelations were focused on improving animal welfare, but the charity’s highly personal response made it very hard for her to get another job, particularly in the realm of animal welfare.”

A spokesman for the RSPCA said: “We are saddened to hear of Dawn Aubrey-Ward’s death.”

This is so sad, the poor woman!

Suffering with depression is something I know about and to have this lot bullying her because of something she disclosed which was truthful is just sickening!

I wish I had the money to get this plastered all over the TV.

Ex-RSPCA Inspector Found hanged

Post  Trilby Bee on Thu May 16, 2013 7:10 pm

Well, one dead and Clwyd still missing. Gosh, they must be proud of themselves now. I did post that I imagined the NHS spent megabucks on dealing with people who had been victims of their bullying. This woman's health was clearly fragile and they pushed her over the edge. There was another (old) guy whose herd of ponies was stolen by them and he also killed himself. he had had the herd for about twenty years. Bullying carries a custodial sentence and I'm surprised they get away with it. Evil or Very Mad

Ex-RSPCA Inspector Found Hanged

And still no sign of Clwyd who surely could not have survived until now without using his pension? Is he another victim they pushed over the edge?
I shall look out for the interview with Dawn's friend...didn't the RSPCA say that there were offences related to owning a shotgun? Or did I imagine that? I saw an article by her and she certainly didn't sound or look like the sort of person who would mess around with guns. But then the RSPCA will say anything to get support...they tell lies as a matter of course.
