Unbelievable!
I used to be a member of a ex-racehorse forum which closed suddenly so I joined another one this one has information on what happens to racehorses after they have finished racing an are re trained for new careers
A girl rescued a chestnut mare from the owner of the other forum I was on the mare Bahamian Dancer (who I have seen race at Newmarket) was a virtual skeleton she also took another gelding who was also in a bad way she managed to get nine horses away from this woman who claimed to be rehoming them for re training most of the horses she had were ex racers who had been given to her "on loan" she was reported to rspca who inspected the remaining horses and Bahamian Dancer (now called Chance)they have refused to prosecute her and indeed have ordered that the horses must be returned to this evil woman
It has now been revealed that she was selling on many of these horses although she did not have permission of their owner's to do this and some she had pts :evil:WHW have taken in some including Hamoody who was a very good racer but it's not sure of they will have to return them
The owner of Chance has refused to return her which makes you wonder what you have to do to get them to take some action against real cruelty obviously she is not a pensioner or an easy target so they have let her off abuse charges

Unbelievable!
These are the types of stories you only find online...they don't make the papers so not that many people know the details. But I would not trust World Horse Welfare to take care of them. RSPCA often offloads horses to them; my horse was sent there by RSPCA and was quickly killed by WHW; perfectly fit, rideable and rehomeable but never appeared of their rehoming pages. I checked regularly. I would never give them a penny. Ted Barnes (WHW ''field officer'') was clearly in league with RSPCA ''inspector'' Wheeler. If one appeared so did the other.
As you say, they pick the easy targets, the ones who are there each day looking after their horses...they know where they can find them. And yet it took them two years to sort out the cruelty at Spindles Farm (Jamie Gray) and hundreds of phone calls from the public. Then they had the cheek to make it into a money spinning publicity stunt, photos in every paper. The whole lot of them make me want to heave. Your story does not surprise me, unfortunately.

Re: Unbelievable!
It must make you feel sick to know that your mare was stolen and then shot afer they had prosecuted you but that other,s get away with multiple abuse/cruelty cases and RSPCA refuse to do anything about it..I think I would want to appeal against any sentence that had been imposed after reading about this case..the woman concerned is still getting horses..mainly cobs and selling them on so she has not been stopped nor had a ban on keeping animals obviously it,s who you know with that evil mob of scumbags..

Unbelievable!
Well, moonstone, let me tell you this. Where I kept my mare was a nice quiet lane, all the yards knew each other and apart from one big-mouthed cow, we all mainly got on well but there was one woman who was a nightmare. She and her kids used to steal any tack that was left overnight. We knew for a fact it was her because:
a) she once tried to sell me a bridle which had been stolen three years before (she had obviously forgotten that she had stolen it from my yard (!), probably thought her daughter had stolen it from another yard)...so she in fact was trying to sell me my own bridle which she had stolen from me.
b) on another occasion when she was leaving she hit our gate post and left her CAR NUMBER PLATE behind. I took it to the police thinking at last we had evidence to get her charged with the thefts she had committed over several years. She was arrested and I had to waste time making a statement. She told them that ''someone must have stolen her number plate and thrown it over our gate''. Oh really? They believed HER and nothing was done. She was released without charge. I told the police this was clearly bollocks, that people steal cars but not numberplates. Oh yes, she could be telling the truth, they said. No, I said, this would not happen. Now I never do anything to help the police, and I told them back then that I would never help even if I witnessed a murder.
She also used to charge people for full livery and leave the horses out all night, also kept OLD wormer syringes for years and charged the owners for Panacur paste and the like. So this gives you an idea what she was like.
On three occasions horses there died mysteriously and two were taken away from her by a concerned neighbour who saw the horses were in lamentable condition...the neighbour actually warned her that someone had phoned the RSPCA and that she ought to let her take it or the RSPCA most likely would. This was before RSPCA had prosecuting powers.
On another occasion, one of my liveries moved out and into her yard as she had a friend there she wanted to be with. Her horse was dead within three months.
Not once did the RSPCA do anything to her...nor WHW. She was best mates with the ''field officer'' from WHW and RSPCA never removed any horses despite a lot of complaints from neighbours and locals. It was always said that they were scared of her, and even more scared of some of the people who kept their horses there. I remember going over there once, looking at the friends hanging around and thinking to myself, ''Christ almighty, if the Devil could cast his net here he'd get quite a catch''. RSPCA turned up on one occasion and some woman told her to ''go f*ck herself or she'd get her husband to sort her out''. So off she went and never came back. Even after Animal Welfare Act (2006) was passed, RSPCA and World Horse Welfare did nothing...in fact when a local yard was closing down for non-payment of rent, and WHW were there to watch the proceedings, all he did was stand chatting to this woman. A friend of mine who saw said they looked like the best of friends. After she (the thief) eventually later moved out, a dead pony was found under her muckheap. This was also reported and nothing done!
They are a waste of space and public donations in my opinion. Anyone who contributes to either needs a brain scan.
